July 2, 2016 Today Michelle and I headed out to see the Galbraith aufeis with two other Toolik residents. The aufeis is thick masses of ice, formed during winter by successive flow and freezing of the water. A lot has melted in the past two weeks or so but it was still beautiful to see and explore! The aufeis is located about 20 minutes south of the research station and about another 15 minute hike from the path. I took a lot of photos so expect to see more on Facebook!
